Wall to Wall Carpet for the Nursery - Soft, Colorful and Low MaintenanceWall to wall carpets in the baby nursery was the solution for our family. Hard surfaces are noisy and cold in the middle of the night when my baby calls. They are uncomfortable to play on and lack colorful designs. Area rugs would have added color for a fun nursery decorating idea, but slipping and tripping are hazards I wanted to avoid - especially if my arms are full with the little one. Searching for the right wall to wall carpet
First of all the material had to be durable and light in color as well as soft. It had to have a stain-resistant finish and be easy to spot clean for stains and steam clean for overall maintenance. Since the nursery is small, we decided to see if roll end carpet remnants would work as wall to wall carpeting. This is a money-saving idea, but it is not always the best option for anyone who is picky about wall to wall carpets. Evidently, I am picky. The bits of carpet seemed to be worn out already. Although they were brand new, they were shedding and some of the material was pulling away from the stitching. Not a good idea for carpets in a room occupied by a child who puts everything in her mouth. Shredded material posed too much of a choking hazard. Berber carpets are safe and durable but they're not the softest option. The commercial quality construction would last but it was hard to see my little daughter having fun on the rough surface. I wanted something touchable. My husband suggested that a shag rug would soften up one of the wall to wall carpets offered in the Berber style, but we might as well have just kept the hardwood floors and added a throw rug on top of that. Fortunately, I discovered wall to wall carpets that offer durability, attractiveness and softness all in one - perfect for nursery decor. And for a bonus they are extremely easy to install. These carpets come in pre-cut squares that are installed like floor tiles with a peel and stick backing. Mix and match colors and patterns to create a unique looking nursery that can grow along with your children. Create a theme and match or contrast bright blue and orange squares with green, yellow or red. And if there is a stain that is impossible to remove, simply remove the tile and replace it with another one. I love the precut square carpets almost as much as my hardwood floors. |
