Bruce Engineered Hardwood Floors: Cross Ply Wooden Flooring

Bruce Engineered Hardwood Flooring Guide

Bruce engineered hardwood floors are similar to solid hardwood products though each type has unique characteristics. The natural beauty of hard wood is evident in both with species that include cherry, oak, maple, walnut and pecan. Exotic mahogany, teak and rosewood are other choices.

Natural wood floors throughout the house

Bruce manufactures wooden engineered flooring that is kiln-dried and precision milled. It is made up of layers of actual hardwood that are glued together in a cross-grain lamination.

Because of its resistance to expansion and contraction from moisture and temperature changes, an engineered floor can be installed over concrete and below grade (ie. in the basement).

Installation options

Install cross ply tile as either glue down or glueless floating floors on top of a subfloor that is clean, dry and sound - loose areas that squeak must be screwed down. Tongue and groove longstrip planks can be stapled to approved subfloors that are able to hold the nail or staple.

Compare qualities

While thinner than hardwood, engineered floors are dent-resistant. Prefinished Bruce floors with a UV cured urethane or ceramic aluminum oxide finish are tough and long lasting - durable enough for residential or commercial use.

Cost effective engineered hardwoods are more stable than their unengineered counterparts especially where humidity is a concern. Hardwood may buckle or crack but engineered boards remain stable in normal indoor environments.
